Whats the proceedure for jump starting another car with my wrx?

Ive only ever used old cars, so it was positive to positive, negative to negative.

But I understand that instead of connecting it that way, it should be positive to positive, their negative grounded (to block or chassis)
is this correct? or could someone correct pls

yeah positive to positive and negative to block/chassis is correct

to be safe i actually go negative chassis/block to my car chassis/block

jump start like any car, providing your brant isnt wanting the mastecode.

positve to positive, negative to negative. just make sure you are using jump leads with the built in surge protector thingy, otherwise you could cause problems.

Putting negative to ground (ie: block) is just another way of doing it. essentially its the same thing, because the negative terminal on the battery is grounded.

have always been told that if doin pos to pos and neg to neg on modern cars have the donor car turned off, so as to protect the computers!!

It’s better to have the donor car running, just make sure the batteries are connected parallel (+ to + - to -) and not in series (+ to - + to -) as both cars will not like 24 volts.

Don't take this as gospel, but I've heard another way with modern cars where the jump leads have no surge protector thing is to make sure headlights are on for the car giving the juice [img]http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/images/smilies/smilies1/icon_confused.gif[/img]

Headlights on High beam will help absorb any spike on disconnection but no guarantee.

Wait a while before disconnecting cars as the flat cars alternator will be working overtime to charge the flat battery and run the car at the same time. Instant disconnection of the leads after starting can cause the spike your trying to avoid.

Yes, connect +ve on batteries and -ve to Block - the resistance assists reducing any spike also.

i've heard the same thing and do this.... but i bought a good quality set of leads with the surge protector for peace of mind!
