BOV Install O-ring

GFB say not to use the O-ring from the stock BOV recirc line. But they dont provide one for it.

What have people done when installing their Stealth FX or similar? Just get an O-ring from bunnings or something? or re-use the stock one?

Cheers

Ive never used a GFB stealth but did they say why not to reuse the factory o-ring?
If the bov outlet is the same diameter as stock, which i assume it is for the return hose to fit on, then i dont see why u wont be able to use it or shouldnt ..

edit: p.s Your talking about the 'clamp' ring that secures the hose onto the bov right?

nah mate I'm talking about the black rubber o-ring that provides the seal.

Except that now I have found somewhere else which says that you just re-use the original one. On their installation video on the website it says "DO NOT USE THE FACTORY O RING" and then in the instructions that come with it it says to re-use it.

Never mind I will re-use the stock one

Thanks anyway!!! Delete Thread

Re-use the stock one. It's the easiest way.

Cheers,

To save starting another thread, i just tried to install the thing. And i cant get the recirc outlet off the stock BOV. One of the little phillips head screws will come out but the other is STUCK. Tried for like half an hour but probably done more damage than good.

Any ideass on how to get the F#)*%&ER out? or does anyone have a stock BOV that they are willing to swap with me so i can get the recirc line of theirs? Thanks

Chris

Thanks mate, but thats no longer my problem. As with everything i try to do myself, there is a screw that wont come undone and it is F&%$ING ANNOYING. I cant get one of the screws undone to take the recirc outlet off the stock valve to swap over to the GFB. I had it all done except one little screw standing in my way that i cant undo.

Is it too tight or is it turning and not coming out?

Chris 02-10-2007 01:57 PM

It's too tight. i think I have rounded it a bit. Shit.

I have a gfb stealth fx and it came with an o ring

Chris 04-10-2007 06:07 PM

thanks,

yeah mine came with an o-ring in the base where it mates with the intercooler but no replacement o-ring for the recirc outlet.

Finally got that damn screw off and now its all installed. Just used the stock o-ring and seems to be fine

Cheers,
Chris
