what size pistons for a sleeved 2.5 ltr
 

Hey guys,

im looking at getting some pistons for my build.. Then engine will be flange top sleeved..

What size pistons would u guys recomend?? 100mm or 102mm the pistons will be CP with swain tech coating from ron at axis..

And the benefits and drawbacks of either size??

I would go the smaller size for now and if you encounter issues - can rebore and use the oversized ones.

hmmm im not spending another 5gs for a rebuild...


The oversized ones have the benefit or more displacement but would this affect the rev limit??

i wouldnt go for a 2.5 then?

Is the block new? If so, go with the smaller pistons.

If the block is used and you need to bore the sleeves to get a decent bore surface, go with the 102mm pistons.

As for the CP Pistons, I'm pretty sure these have the offset gudgeon pin to reduce side loading and also to reduce piston noise.

its my used block joe.. but is there any great benefit in going a larger piston apart from the stated obvious..

hmmm ive still got my ARP head studs from my orignal block and nick uses them for all his builds..

headgasket will be a cosworth item, unless ron recomends using his cometic gaskets..

Wouldn't you engine builder be able to advise on the most suitable based on the amount of work needed to your block, etc?

yeah paul, but i like to get other ppls opinons also... considering the block needs to be sleeved i can put any piston in there i like i supose...

but atm im just looking at benefits of either..
