Turbo upgrade for EJ257

Trying to decide on a turbo upgrade path for my 2.5L. Currently running a std VF28 for the run-in stage but that'll be limited to about 180kW @ wheels I think. Shooting for 230+ with minimal lag.

Anyone running a 2.5 with a PE 1820 or AVO400l?? Would appreciate hearing about these or any other good turbo stories...

Intended application is MCs and MaxAction, so low down torque with zero lag is kinda essential...

Thanks!

if quick spool up is what ur after, then DON'T get a PE1820 as it's laggy as hell.

tested a new turbo called Momentum yesterday and the thing actually spools up faster than my previous VF35 (and we know VF35 has one of the fastest spool up around)! Manufacture claim it has higher & steadier top end than the VF34 but since the turbo is new I didn't wanna push it to test the top end, but will keep ppl posted.

if anyone wanna find out more about this new turbo (there's only one in perth and i got it :p ), ring up Craig or Rob @ SpeedWorks and they will sort you out.

al (XRW 147) ran an 1820 for a while on his, apparently it was a little small for his taste, i'd imagine it might be right for your application if top end isn't an issue and you just want zero lag

theres plenty of blokes of REXNET running 2.5L with avo 400L and 450 with good results and very minimal lag, the 400L would be more responsive, plus both are a direct bolt on, being garret based should be pretty tough....a GT35R would look and go very nice as well with a heap of boost, may be not for to long...

i think al xrw didnt like the PE1820 on his 2.5ltr... the avo turbos are preety good from the results that ive seen..

however there preety pricy.. if ur looking for a cheaper alternative there is some guys in the U.S making turbos based off the mitsi housing.. such as deadbolt and Forced performance...

whats wrong with it?
not that i disagree with you i just wanna know why it's so crap?
i've heard it's not any better than a VF35 and alot more expensive

You want zero lag stick with the VF28. Otherwise the AVO 400 series will give you a nice balance based on the extra capacity. Being a lazy motor you'd like your power band to be well and truly finished by 6k.

just another example of the yanks dumping unwanted shit in our backyard......
