Where to buy map sensor for GDB STI and Spark plugs

hey guys,

im in need of a 3bar MAP sensor for my coming tune as the stock one is apparently only good for 1.4-1.5bar, And i dont want it to hinder my tune in anyway..

Wheres a good place to get one and what would be the approx cost?

Ive also been told that i should get some new spark plugs. What do u guys recomend? or if its even neccessary?

Spark plugs - I'd stick with the OEM NGK platinum plugs but in a 8 heat range. These can be ordered from any Auto One etc store. PFR8G I think is the part number.

As for MAP sensors, I believe the Motec unit is actually an AC Delco unit. Maybe try ringing Amcap Parts in Welshpool or someone else may have a source?

I'm sure RT would be able to source these parts for you quite easily. You might save a few dollars chasing up the parts yourself but you're saving yourself a lot of hassles by just getting them to buy the parts in for you, especially considering you dont know exactly what you're after.

thanks jono will do..

so do u think its a neccessity to change my plugs? or can they be left for the time being?

personally i would just change them to air on the side of caution that way you will know they are new know they are gapped right and will know they are of a good quality..

of course if you already know what ones are in there and they are gapped right and are good quality you may want to leave them.

however if you are getting the car tuned i would want to be 100% sure they are gapped right and all that jazz

I'm sure if you speak to Dave McShane, he'll have everything in and ready for you by Tuesday.

CAPA lists the 3 bar MAP sensor @ $156 or $136 for Motec (Delco) model.

cool ill give them a call.. Do u know wot the difference is between platinum and iridiums plugs?

I was told from some ppl over east to use the NGK iridiums in 8 heat range with a gap of 0.7? What do u guys think, remebering that ill be running a GT35R.

I'd stick with the Platinum plugs in an 8 heat range. With the boost you're looking at running the biggest gap I look at is 0.7mm, maybe even a little smaller to 0.65 if there is hesitation caused by the boost 'blowing out' the spark. At your level of development it's probably time to start looking at aftermarket coils etc to give you a nice strong spark.
