hello/goodbye gearbox
 

Well, seems I've broken my gc8's gearbox.. shifted hard into second and banged then revved...

second is no longer there...

rest of gears seem fine apart from being a bit hard to get into gear..

makes a small rattle sometimes when you get off the throttle... hopefully its not pieces of metal grinding away front diff or other gears...

jacked the car up when I got home and had a look, and noticed that while in gear (any) I can turn both front wheels like its out of gear, is this normal???

Did I strip second or bust a selector or something else???

Killed 2nd , dont drive it get it towed to the nearest ER .... !!!

had to drive it home, no other way... getting it rebuit tomorrow, prob with new front diff... pissed off.. only car i have atm, so yeah, guess its like that..

how much for the rebuild? It may be cheaper just to pick up a second hand box in good condition

I couldn't find a box, anywhere today, and need the car going... how much does a box go for??? If anyone has one, PLEASE let me know..

if you are rebuilding, straight cut 1st,2nd or some stronger helical cut gears would probably be a good idea...

i would assume that a box would be about $1500....but im not 100% sure :D

would like to, but will have to wait as i need the car to get to work, maybe in 6 months when i can get a shitter to drive round in... to pricy for me atm, just bought some works rims for it.... so down on cash a bit :(

paying 1700 for g/box rebuild plus 300 for front diff if needed...

will have to try drive it gently... not drive angry :mad:

I'll sell you my 86 ford laser i got as my run around for 500 bucks so u can get to work and back :). Recently purchased it while i didn't have a car :)
