whats ur EGT temp- do i have a problem?

hey guys,

Ive been looking at my EGT temp recently and when im in cruise mod it sits at only 250 degrees and when its in gear around 350 degrees..

I remeber on my old car that the temp was around 400 degrees normally then around 500 degrees in gear normal driving.

Is there something wrong with the current setup? i have ceramic coated upipe and downpipe, and rear turbo hosuing.

The probe is situated just behind the turbo in the downpipe.

Do u think i may have a leak somewhere?

Note: the car is running (autronic only auto tuned) super rich and has no timming.

maybe coz its running super rich tino as leaner afr make EGT hotter.

On the topic of EGT gauges, whats the consensus on probe positioning?

I got myself an Apexi EL2 EGT gauge and probe, which is to remain installed all the time...I've been told NOT to put the probe before the turbo because if it breaks off, my turbo is toast. In this case, I need to install it in the dump pipe just after the turbo.

Will this still read accurately??

4" away from the turbo outlet, along the dump pipe will suffice.
