Hi guys, im lookn at gettin a new turbo for my 06 wrx, wat turbo do you guys recommend i should get? i see heaps of people have a VF34, should i be looking at that turbo? I want a decent turbo but im not looking at 800 hp or something, just a quicker than average car with good driveablity as its my daily. Has anyone purchased anything from gruppe-s.com?
IHI VF34: $925 IHI VF22: $875 FP TD06 18G: $849 FP TD06 20G: $1165 FP Green: $1399 FP Red: $1399 Basically $1400 is the most i would want to spend on the turbo. The prices in the list are those of www.gruppe-s.com and they fall into my price range. The price includes shipping also. What current power you got now on your WRX from the VERSO?
What power figure are you looking at obtaining? Are you after More Torque or More Horses or a Mix of both. |
atm i have 220hp and 385nm torque... would be happy with 280 hp +... after more horses or probably bit of both, but yer.. 280hp minimum.. over 300 would be awesome ahha :)

Td06 20g ;)

any reasons? what power figures should i expect? :)

Just remember power + wrx = something else will fail. Best to budget for that.
VF34 is a usual choice since it doesn't have the lag of big turbo's. Can easily achieve 260-280hp off that. (Also putting on a bigger turbo and wanting more power will require a bigger intercooler) |

When I was looking at upgrading my VF43 on the sti this was my pick for pretty good low end and likewise topend, from memory 300-320hp should be possible. Balistc might be able to help here? +1 on Katos comments |
Personally I would go TD05 20g, will still be very responsive and give you the figures your after or at least a platform to build from. I don't think a TD06 20g would suit you from what you have said unless you have some bigger future plans. I run a TD05 20g and it's good for 340+ hp easily with more to come.
