Radiator, China Spec or OEM???
 

I've had a look through, but cant seem to find an answer.

I've cracked my top tank, and subsequently need it replaced. At this point in time i have a few options:
A) keep current rad (162,000kms old) and just change top and bottom tanks;
B) get brand new tank (either oem or after market oem spec), or
C) get an alloy rad

Is it worth getting a China Alloy Rad?
People who have them fitted, did you experience any issues? I've read 52mm is too thick, so which would be a suitable size?
At this point, im looking at purchasing the following rad cuz its cheap and its alloy, but would like to hear peoples experiences and opinions on china radiators.

I've been through the process.

You have a 99/00 WRX. You have plastic end tanks NOT top and bottom tanks (unless a MY01+ WRX radiator has been fitted).

Options:

1) Remove the radiator yourself, and just replace the hot side plastic end tank (ie plastic end tank with the hose that goes to top drivers side). This will be the only plastic tank that will need replacing.
This will cost you approx $200 including door to door radiator pickup and delivery.

2) Buy that China Spec radiator for around the same price delivered.
The advantages would be no more plastic end tanks to split again eventually and a brand new radiator with no leaks.
Even if you get a small leak somewhere in the radiator as its China Spec the most it will cost for repair is $40 ish dollars if you DIY when replacing the radiator.

I would take the gamble, pay via PayPal and if the thing is absolute rubbish you complain to PayPal via their protection policy and send it back.

You should not have to replace your thermostat unless its stuffed too.
Subaru OEM from Regents in Oz Park for that if needed.

The alloy rad looks like the one I have. I havent had any probs as yet but I have only done maybe 1000ks since car has been back on the road. I have been told that they can corrode very quickly if you have any stray current running through the car. Hopefully I have prevented this with an earthing kit and I have also fitted a voltage stabilizer.
