Volume of boot mounted intercooler spray tank

Does anyone know the volume of the factory, boot mounted, intercooler water spray tank, for a 07 WRX?

I cannot get it confirmed thru Subaru (yet!) or by reading my car manual.

I have a feeling that is is around 4 litres, but not sure.

I have made my intercooler spray automated and run thru a shit load of water and before upgrading the tank I want to know what I am upgrading from.

w * h * L = volume.

valid if it was a square unit... but its not.

Best bet is to get a measuring jug when its empty and measure how much it takes to fill up. I have put in 2 litres before, and it was still about a third full. so my guess is 3 litres

Because it is under the boot trim I cannot see when it it empty - this makes a zero starting point hard.

The manual says that the IC dash light activates when 400 ml is left. When the light was on I put ~3.5 ltrs into it.

All I really have is it is definitely less than 5 ltrs so far.

Thanks for the advice and notes on experience

chee 20-07-2008 09:34 PM

yeah get the sti spec c 12L tank. bolts to the back of your seat.

Luigi 20-07-2008 09:36 PM

Syphon the water out from the tank

Then fill it up with a measureing jug.

The SPEC-C has a 12L tank as showen ^^ the Stock STI has a 4.0L

this may sound like a stupid question.

but with the spec c tank, do you ever hear water sloshing around when turning, going over bumps etc?

MattH 21-07-2008 05:10 PM

Very very cool responses ppls - Rexy03 - in particular!

Reports are no sloshing can be heard from these tanks - they are probably baffled

gus 22-07-2008 10:02 PM

In answer to your question you cant hear water sloshing about in the tank and the tank isnt baffeled either my spec-c type RA has as you know lightweight panels all round and you still cant hear anything.

SPEC IV 22-07-2008 10:07 PM

its not as if it is a 44 gallon drum. Over the boxer rumble you aren't going to hear anything ;)

The possum bourne site was over $600!!

If that is only $141 delivered im buying it!!

one other question though. is this completley hidden? ive never looked at my seats close enough to know if there is enough room to fit this in, or weather there is some sort of plank to hide the back of the seats which is removed when installing?

The guys on Rexnet are getting these from Japan Parts so I would assume its the best deal going........

WRXTASY 27-07-2008 02:04 PM

If anyone is thinking of getting one of these from Japanparts - I'm keen as well for $142.

Group Buy with a discount and with group shipping to save on transport $$$.
