Help! FUSED bolts locking my stock exhaust to my turbo :(
I brought a 3" stainless steel exhaust the other week and cant wait to put it on!
Me and a mate have given it a good go. the problem is that some of the bolts joining the turbo to the exhaust have fused up. we just cant get them off at all! last week we tried a bit of WD40, no luck then today took it to a mates work shop. we got 4 of the 6 bolts off. but two of them just wont budge. we even broke a spanner! then we tried the oxie torch. heated the bolt untill it was glowing, let it cool a bit then got stuck into it. no luck! then the worst happened! yup. stripped the bolt now i'm reeally stuffed there are two pissy little bolts stopping me from putting on the new zorst! argh! any suggestions? |

Yeah this is good stuff. I had the same issue getting my cam bolts out. I tried air compressor rattle gun in the workshop, oxy torch, Loctite, heat gun, the lot.
What finally got it was heat them until they are glowing red and then spray Loctite Freeze and Release on it. If you have access to a rattle gun get it STRAIGHT on it. I think the glowing temperature and then spraying the -40 degree cold fluid does the truck. Give it a go. I think the Loctite Freeze and Release is around $20.00 a can from Super Crap Auto.

Had similar issues with mine. Ended up oxy 'ing off one of the bolts (melted it, covered the cv's / other stuff that it might fall on underneath with wet rag). Also had trouble with one of the nuts on a stud. Ended up heating it till it was 'glowing' then a pair of vice clamps and turning it by hand. Took about 10-15 reheats to get it (the whole stud came out IIRC).
Good luck

If you can get hold of Wurth Rost Off Ice I'd strongly recommend it. Wurth used to send out shitloads of the stuff to us, and I've never really had a situation when it didn't work.

subaru upper cylinder cleaner is pretty good for seized bolts.
