Mystery oil on bonnet scoop area
Wonder if you guys could advise.
This morning I started the WRX as usual and moved out. The car vibrated a bit when cold but soon it was going as normal. A little while later I noticed some drops of oil at the bonnet scoop area (about 8 small drops) closer to the driver side. Popped the bonnet and did not notice anything leaking. Engine oil cap was tight. Drove it for a distance and no smoke or smell coming from the engine bay or exhaust. I was sure that I did not spill any oil around the bonnet scoop area as the car is parked most of the time under cover. Funny thing is that the oil seemed clean. I rubbed it between my fingers and it definitely was not water. I still have the spiltter below the bonnet scoop. Where could the oil come from? I did some searching and it seems that if the turbo seals are blown, then there would be heaps of smoke? Or could it be the turbo return lines, but wouldn't a leak affect the performance of the turbo? Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers |
when you say 'bonnet scoop area' do you mean inside the bonnet or on the outside?

Do you have an atmo BOV pointing towards this "bonnet scoop area"?
