MattMY99's Hatch Build Thread

Evening all

I've finally started my EJ207 build for my 99 hatch.
Story so far:
Engine's out and body is down at BBK for full panel and paint, and the engine is at Cypher being built in the mean time.
I've bought 207 short motor and am intending on using my heads. At the moment, I'm mainly interested in peoples opinion on cams, and the benefits I will see. My intentions for the car are mainly a "weekend warrior" (it isn't my daily). I looking to build a fast 1/4 mile car, with the ability to be tracked ocasionally.
Currently I'm running PowerFC, VF34, FMIC, B-specII EBC, 3" TBE, CAI and a Walbro pump.
Obviously, i'm replacing water pump, oil pump, timing belt and all gaskets during the build.
But as I said, I'm stuck on cams. Are aftermarket cams advisable with my current set up? And if so, where do i start? HKS, JUN, Tomei, Cosworth, Wade, Tighe, DPR, Cobb...
Thanks for all your input.
I'll post up some pictures of the build process for those that are interested.

Don't think your gonna get the full benefits of bigger cams on the stock 99 heads.....best option would be a set of STi heads & cams with that turbo or even slightly bigger.

They make it sound like a fuckin beast :D :D

If you want it to sound like a beast, go Autronics with Rotational idle.....miss my old 99, used to rumble & shake your guts out at the lights with the rotational idle :)

Many of your listed big named Cams come from blanks or are made completely by Kelford. Email or call Kevin to discuss your needs. They are very helpful and have plenty of experience (internationally) with WRX cams, you will save a few dollars as well. Keep your individually shipped orders under $1000 (excluding delivery) and your Duty free as well.

Good hookup with Kelford Morgan.
