Ok. Where the CV shaft meets the front diff on the drivers side, their is gunk and dirt which is in paste form. When I had a look the boot didn't look like it was cut or anything so maybe the diff was leaking??

it is a good idea to have oil in ya diff...

I had a check then, heaps of oil in the diff. And the gunk on the CV doesn't smell like diff oil just dirt.

I got a diff back muffler/exhaust so maybe heat shield?
