Central Locking

Having issues with the central locking on the ver6 STI.

I can find the 'unlock' trigger wire, but can't find the 'lock' trigger.

I have looked at the wiring diagrams around the web, but they are for
the WRX which has a different system with no solenoid in the drivers
door (ironically that would be easier).

I have located the central locking unit (pics below).

Does anyone know how the system triggers a 'lock' ?
I am fucked if I can work out how it is doing it.
There MUST be one, coz when I manually unlock the drivers door
the unit triggers and unlocks all the other doors.

If a solution cannot be found then I will simply pull the factory shit
out and put a decent (standard triggered) after market system in.

P.S. I have already search the threads, and as I mentioned the wiring
diagrams I found are the the WRX not the STI.

Had this problem on mine. It is the motor that goes in the drivers door, I ended up just getting a new one, didn't cost much.

Hey Fobz,

When I had my ALarm fitted they had to fit a new soleniod to the drives door because they couldn't work the system out either!! (Plus I wanted selective unlock on all doors...I can choose to unlock any 1 door or all together from the remote).

Is yours the original infrared system?

The drivers door may have a switch built into the solenoid, when you manually lock that door (with the key) it slaves the other solenoids to their locked position.

if you lock the passenger side door with the key do the others lock too?
I'd say not...but get back to me....... all the others are just slaves to the drives door.

SOLVED.

No need for new solenoids. It uses a "one wire" system which heaps
of jap cars use. I created a DIY for other people wanting to install alarms etc. It
shows you the wire you need to locate, and also how to put in a relay to create
a standard 2 wire lock/unlock solution compatible with alarms.

No need to swap solenoids etc :)

My guess is that is it similar in other models.

Note: if you have a system with selective lock/unlock (unlock doors individually) like an Autowatch 446 RLI Premium, this solution won't work.
