Default Snorkus removal

I am looking to remove the snorkus on the Ver6 STI. I know how to do,
thats not the problem.

On the intake before the snorkus there is a probe. I am guessing its
a temp sensor of some sort. Pics below.
Obviously once the snorkus is removed, then this probe will not
be reading the correct things. I don't remember it being on my MY99 WRX
when I ripped its snorkus out

So guess I am asking the experts WTF do I do with it ?
- Leave it hanging still connected ?
- Make a hole and bung it into the airbox ?
- Unplug it and remove ?
- Pull it off and use it to give DB9 an "anal probe" ?

If someone can confirm if the MY99 WRX has this thing that would be
great.

Any suggestions welcome.

Nope mine didn't have that when I removed the snorkle. (MY00) My suggestion would be to remove everything bar the intake that is attached to the probe you were holding. Hope that helps.

What I am worried about is that the air will no longer be being taken
through that inlet. Thus the probe (if it is a temp probe) will be reading
a higher temp that the actual air which is flowing from inside the guard.

That inlet with the probe will still take in air from under the driver side headlight if you keep it attached. You might need to fabricate some form of "joiner" to where that inlet was attached to the inner guard snorkle.

EDIT: regardless the air rushing into that inlet before the temp probe would register the same i would imagine, as it is part of the air intake to the inner guard snorkle. (Hope that made sense)

Where did you get that from ? Available for GC8 ?

P.S. Nice "metro-sexual" white shoes.

mines from SS inductions with the big mouth intake as well - fitted to a my03
http://www.ssinductions.com.au/subaruwrx.htm

theres this one also
http://yhst-49187380673845.stores.yahoo.net/hiinel.html
says it fits all wrx

i think they would be the same as gc8 would need to compare the distance from air box to the air intake where the resonator attaches

heres a pic of a modified snorkus - bit rough but - could have been a lot neater than that

Not my shoes stole the pics off the WWW
