Default My planned set-up. Any advice welcome!

Looking into getting some work done to it pretty soon. Hoping to make at least 280hp atw with some good handling on my 04 wrx. I hope this isnt pushing that capabillities of my stock internals too much. But obviously i wont be driving around at full boost all the time.

Got a few parts on order and pretty keen on this set up:
-FMIC
-CAI
-VF34
-de-capped injectors
-Fuel pump
-Verso tune
-Boost controller
-Other little peices e.g. turbo timer, boost gauge...

Getting my parts from here and there, quoted all up including install at ASG is $6K

Later when i have the money will add some Tein coilovers, sway bars and ALK.

All that should keep my wallet empty for a while

Any reccomendations, ideas or constructive criticism?
FYI The car already has 3.5 inch TBE. Its mild steel, yuck. Do you think 3.5 inch is slightly too big? Is this affecting my mid range/tourque too negatively?

huge debate on whether to go 2.5/3/3.5, much of a muchness, But you probably are losing some torque.

look here for various opinions - http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/mechanicals/15115-benefits-2-5-diff-back.html

Id say you might need to add a set of headers to that list to get 280+

Either way you will come real close with that setup, its been tried and tested a million times over by plenty of forum members

3.5" is too big for the hp you are chasing.

Turbo timer is a waste of money and won't work in with the Brandt alarm system. So unless you have aftermarket alarm and want the rice... Up to you.

Gauges are just wank, but nice to impress the mates with... esp when you max out the defi and it goes back to zero

It is a very similar setup to mine which yielded 310hp. Personally if I did it again, I'd stay with the STi tmic and enjoy less lag.

Don't forget some good pads and rotors to slow you down!

As above - ditch boost controller, turbo timer, and gayges.

Maybe add 3-port boost control solenoid? I'm not sure if ASG still have a preferred one that they use (that they keep stock of)

Sounds like a pretty textbook set of bolt ons to me, FMIC not required however, neither is the boost controller.

Thanks all,
I guess i'l be changing the exhaust also, but not a priority ($$$)

So would it be worth ditching the boost controller, timer and gauges for some unequal length headers? Whats recommended headers wise? Worth replacing the up pipe with an after market item also?

So 3 port boost solenoid, research time.

Kato, thank you and I'm pretty interested as to what mods your 310hp wrx has.

Sigh, so many options.

All is here: http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/your-driveway/20591-kato-mobile.html

Tomei unequal headers were very nice imo. Still retained some rumble and gave a nice note. For all out power, equal length are the best (the rumble is actually an inefficiency).

Do you have WRX or STi?

If it is a WRX, do this:

VF34
STi TMIC (Spec C if possible)
Waterspray kit (can hook into washer bottle and run a hobbs switch)
Decap injectors
3 port boost solenoid
Verso retune of stock ECU
3" TBE
Quality headers
22mm front sway bar
24mm rear sway bar
(If car is lowered also add anti-roll kit)

Done and dusted and you will have a very exciting car...

Till you want more!
