just put a box around the pod, that will shield it from the heat from the turbo/engine

Why bother with the box when a simple right angle pipe that has a silicone joiner onto the MAF will put it in the inner guard. Looks much neater and allows for a much bigger pod filter.

not good if you get water into the guard

plus, the box is probably a cheaper option

Bloody Subaru filters, I had one of the sweetest sounding stock BOV's you've ever heard cos being a tight arse I bought some cheap Nissan filters from e bay $10ea, then I cooked my car a few weeks ago[top of radiator tank broke off] & saw that the filter had just about turned itself inside out so figured I'd buy genuine Subi one....Bugger..... put the motor back in yesterday and no more BOV noise but more induction noise, so if you want to risk it I still have a couple left, I did 10,000k's before it died but toosh from about 2,500 rpm.

The guard is sealed from the bottom and the pod filter sits up near the top of it... so I doubt any water will ever get into it..... the APS cold air kit and others all put the pod in the inner guard. its the best setup.

Talking MODS AND cars STOCK

Hey help needed, the topic of ECU and computers confuses me, these are the mods i am planning on doing, just wondering if i will need to change the cars computer its completely stock at the moment.

1. CAI into the inner guard with pod
2. 3" turbo back exhaust system
3. Hybrid Blow off valve

Would any of these mods screw with the stock computer. and would they dramitically affect fuel consumption.

Thankyou

dont mod if you want to retain fuel econ. (But where's the fun in that??)

Pretty much any mod will have an effect on your fuel parameters within the stock ECU.
