There are various ways to cool your intercooler.
It can be set to spray continuously for a span from one to five seconds in one second intervals. Also the spray interval can be set at 3, 4, 5, 7 or 9 seconds. Other settings include continuous spray for a period of 15 seconds to 3 minutes maximum and ability to turn on at a pre-set rpm level. Of course the settings stop automatically when the tank is empty.

Is there a way to set to Manual and Auto mode as well?
You can get an Auto IC Spray switch from JWS for about $20 but there's no way to set this to manual. It's like the cruise control switch, it's either in (auto), or out (off).

I was thinking about getting an Auto switch but I think you'd need two switches to have both auto and manual options available (ie: a flick switch connected to the Hobbs switch - when it's on, you're in auto mode, when it's off, you're in manual mode where you use your OEM switch.)

Dave, i've got one..

Unless you want to always push a button to have manual spray every ? second.. its pretty useless.

Auto mode will activate after a set rpm.. again pretty useless setting it say at 4k and then putting around town spraying away on 1st, 2nd gear.

You could add a hobbes in line so that it does not spray until say 10psi ->

The device itself is pretty meh in my book, better off with a ghetto stylez hobbes.
