boost controller

Why would i have no boost control?

Just put a 96 wrx motor in the Legacy and it runs real smooth, BUT i have no boost control it hits 20+psi in a split second and then cuts out. I dont like it when it does that. Its already blown the ic off at the throttle. I didnt touch anything to do with the boost solenoid or boost controller. Its a turbosmart dual stage controller.

Cheers guys and gals

Connect a hose from nipple on turbo outlet directly to the wastegate. This should give you 7-8psi boost as that is the wastegate's actuation pressure. If you're still getting massive boost then your wastegate is the problem. This also keeps your car 'safe' while you figure out what the real problem is, 20+psi is not good for the older engines.

Will try this.
Im thinking the wastgate might be siezed, thus not limiting boost to set level.
Should i block the other hoses?

You are my Hero BLU WRX :love2:
Boost is now limited to 8 psi, can rev it right out and no overboost/fuel cut.
Yay for you and stuff.

Boost limited to 8psi isn't a good thing is it?? Better than going to 20 i guess

Its a great thing. Wont blow up a motor.

20 psi on the other hand, can blow motors very quickly..

PROBLM 23-12-2005 12:47 PM

Im not a fan of blowing motors either

I was just making the point that i don't think i would be happy if my car was stuck at 8psi (but i did say that it's better than 20psi/blowing up your engine)

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Cheers man, I think i may have sorted out the boost controller. but i cant drive the car again until i get it licenced now :( Apart from that its sick to have been able to drive it after 3 months off the road. It makes me realise how much of a bunky it was before :D
