Knocking/Rumble/Rattle Coming from underside of car.

Hey guys.

Its been there for a little while now and is starting to really get to me.

It happens generally when turning right, I hear a rumble/rattle/knocking which seems to be coming from the passenger side of the car.
Has anyone come across this problem before?

I own a bugeye.
Done the wheel bearing but no good.
If I had time I would have a real close look but im always at uni or work...

Any suggestions/feedback will be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou
Lukas

Exhaust rubbers might be stuffed or its not mounted properly.

I would be thinking along the lines of a CV joint.

Could be the rear shock on that side or even the diff bushes.

cv's usually click though and its a distinct click as apposed to a knock.. Does it sound like its from the front or rear..

REXZIBIT 09-10-2009 10:01 AM

It sounds to me like from the middle of the car.
Which is why I was stumped for idea's?

Im thinking it may be the exhaust mounted wrongly and knocking against the underbody.
When I give it some it makes the same noise sometimes aswell, which is why Im thinking that.

Might have to crawl underneath sometime.

Most common one I have had is the muffler hitting on the heat shield and it resonates through the whole car.. So it would definitely be worth a look.

Cheers Foz,
Ill have to have a quick look asap and let you know if its that :)
Thanks again dude.

If the exhaust is has been vibrating against the floor it will have been sending your knock sensor crazy too.......Just ask Fobz.

Exhaust hitting the floor makes a sharp bang, not a rumbling.

If it happens when turning, you sure its not something like your inner guard rubbing on the tyre?
