Dropping idle

The idle on my car is stuffed. Sometimes its ok, other times it will drop to nearly zero and occasionally stall.

Ideas?

Better not be AFM.

:D
Sounds like you may have hit the nail on the head!
Good thing you have the model you have and not a 94-96 or 01-05 ;)

AFM was replaced recently.

Why do you say that?

If its AFM I'll put a Z32 AFM in.

Just seems the typical symptoms for AFM... could be wrong tho. :(

I say it better to be your model only because its around $350 for a new afm sensor 97-00 but for other models they have a 1 piece design and cost around the $650-700 mark from suby

mine did that ey i replaced 4 in 2 yrs :( it fine for a couple of seconds then when u stop for more than ten seconds it dips right down to 0 then back up. does it almost stall when u go around a corner?

Bakks 09-01-2006 09:53 PM

Nah it drops straight away when you clutch in then usually sits normal(ish).

REXLLENT 09-01-2006 09:55 PM

nope,

its the IAC valve choked with carbon deposits.

geoff 09-01-2006 11:32 PM

Yeah spray it full of intake cleaner (can from subaru or tenagah) and if that doesnt work, drown the AFM in brake cleaner.
