boost problem
when i first brought my wrx bout a year ago it was running 13psi, i had it in the shop under warranty repairs an when i got it out it drop down to 8 but i thought that they must of just tamperd until now its only running 6
iv had a mate whos a mechanic to look at it to see if he could find a air leak at all but he couldnt, has anyone else had this problem or does this mean that my turbos on its way out? |
Can you feel a significant drop in power, Might just be a faulty boost gauge.

yer there is a loss in power an its not getting up to 6psi til 4500rpm
|
If its still under Warranty take it back and get them to investigate.
Sounds like the ECU is in Limp mode. What yeah WRX have you got? |
is the boost pill (whatever its called) still in? dont ask me where that is, someone might be able to elaborate. With that out you'll only make 6-8 psi
|
the warranty is over now but when i first noticed the problem i took it in 3 times to them thinking it was just a boost leak but i just gave up as it was never fixed
its a 01 bugeye model |
Check all the silicon vacuum hoses associated with your turbo, I found one of mine had been damaged from heat and replacing it stoped the problem. Be mindfull that if u remove the hose with the "boost pill" that you may continue to have boost problems unless u get a verso tune or similar (I had this done on my bug). From memory u can tell where the boost pill is by identifying a small white mark, almost like whiteout, on one of the vacuum hoses.
