wrx99 boost and pod mod
wrx99 hatch and want to install boost controller and meter also pod filter but not sure if able.
the car is pretty much stock it only has 3 inch exhaust. done some research it sounds like a pod filter slowly stuffs intake airflow meter which i don't want to happen. what psi should i be running . thanks for any help ????? |

Rather than looking at 'what psi should I be running', you should be looking at 'what ECU should I be running?'
Just cranking up boost is not the best thing for the car. Have a look out for a 2nd hand PowerFC and then get the car tuned to the boost level. Only oiled filters will stuff up your air flow meter. Stick with dry types. Also a pod filter on your setup is a waste of time and money, you would be better off with a good panel filter. This also means less problems should you be pulled over.

electronic boost controller-apexi power fc - z32air flow meter - air filter and s/steel afm adptr - walbro fuel pump - dyno tune - maybe vf34 turbo without turbo about $3900 with turbo add $1280 sounds pretty good just woundering if thats a good price |

1. no need for a stand alone boost controller with the Power Fc (it's built in to the ecu)
2. No need for a Z32 with such mild mods. Look into a process west cold air intake & a better (GD) top mount intercooler which will give you best bang for buck.

I think it would be worth going the Z32 just to avoid the usual MY99/MY00 MAF problems

$600.....that's more than replacing 2 x 99/00 afm's.

Agree with Jester. A couple of hundred now is a lot better than a couple of thousand later.
Also recommend the GD topmount and vf34. Edit: maybe hold off on the z32 for now, and buy one second hand. I sold mine for $150...

I don't remember paying $600 for a brand spanker Ross.
