He also still had to get the backing plates cut and modified and re-welded to mount the 08 sti rear calipers.

Yes that is true but he also has information that would have made
the swap very simple that was given prior to them being installed.

I'm also interested in the 'very simple' installation.

I have a pair of the '08 rear calipers and can't seem to make them work with any OE Subaru backing plate I've tried. They have a 145mm bolt spacing, the same as a single pot slider but the offset is different and they also need to be further out from the hub centre.

Does anyone know the trick?

My bad I said "prior" when I meant "post"

Am I missing something here or are the brembo 2 pots from the 08's essentially the same units but with a different mount?

The ones I have are actually a slightly larger caliper, with a longer didtance between the bolts and a different offset between the bolt face and the disc surface. Essentially nothing like a pre 08 caliper, except they use the same pad.

Sounds like a lick of black paint on a pre 08 would be a much easier solution with the same outcome.

For sure!
But I measured the 145mm spacing and got all excited thinking they'd bolt straight on. Handed over a non refundable wad of cash then went D'oh!

the JWS liberty/sr20 drift car has 08 sti brembos on the back. I would assume that it could not have been too difficult otherwise it wouldn't have been done.
