removal of charcoal cannister

Hi Guys, first thing first this is for a car that will not be a daily driven vehicle so i can remove such a thing as it will not hinder registration!

I need to remove the cannister and lines but wanted some advice for what i need to do and how i should go about it! if it were under the car i would leave it there but as it is smack in the middle or the interior it has to go for a number of reasons!

I will get some pics and to show the position (tuna, if you read this you saw where it was and might have some suggestions!) i am not 100% sure on the impacts of ripping it out but am happy so long as it doesn't interfere with the opperation of the car

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Beau

I also need to give the airbags the boot, and am hoping this will be just a matter of plug and play so i can just unbolt and unclip the lines!

Does anyone know if the wires are spliced into the harness or are they stand alone?

Charcoal cannister is fairly straight forward. In the simplest terms its a matter of bypassing the breather lines to each other.

If I recall the airbag loom is its own piggy backed onto the wiring loom. This is the case for >MY07, I can't comment on canbus systems. Im not even sure if the 08+ have canbus looms and if the airbag system is incorporated differently.

One thing to keep in mind in any case, don't be in the direct line of fire of the airbag when removing/unplugging etc. I've done it a few times without incident, but you can never be too careful. Essentially its a plug and play system though, a matter of disconnecting the plugs, appropriate loom and front sensors as well as the airbag control module.

Last time I pulled all the airbags out of a GC8 they were a complete stand alone system encased in yellow conduit. the controller was underneath the ashtray in the middle of the transmission tunnel.

I removed my charcoal canister and vented to atmosphere.

With the cannister you just take 2 hoses and hook them together right?
