08 STi TMIC or Spec C TMIC
Hi all,
It's been asked before in various threads, but I can't seem to find the info I'm after when doing a search. So, what I want to know is, how does the Spec C TMIC compare to the 08 STi one? If the 08 STi TMIC is better, will an 08 STi TMIC fit a GD pretty easily (assuming the clutch cylinder change and correct brackets installed)? Cheers :) |
08 STi GRB TMIC is bigger than the GDB Spec C TMIC and still has that divided top tank setup.
Yes a 08 STI tmic will fit in a GDB engine bay. |
~4% more volume on the 08. No Sti wording sprayed on, so street cred is down 50%.

Fantastic comparison!
I need the extra volume as I'm running a TD06. Looking at making 330-340 at the hubs on TMIC, with massive response. |
Joe,
I thought that surface area would be a more important criteria for cooling? And that a larger volume would decrease the responsivenes... Fred ________ SabrinaCutie |
As above. Go for the biggest surface area one that will fit, check the fit and sealing between the air intake and TMIC -and get the STi wording.
Joe,

Fred
Absolutely, but volume comes into play when you're running 24 psi as I am.. The fact that the volume is slightly larger (and the surface area is bigger), means that the slight difference in response between the bigger 08 STi and the Spec C (negligible), will be worth the extra capacity. |
don't go for surface area, you can only get so much air through the scoop, go for depth.
Process west make really good kits, comes with new splitter to fit intercooler |
tube and fin for efficency and surface area.
bar and plate for heat soak and depth instead. stick to the 08 cooler joe, you wont be disapointed. |
Thanks Stace.. thats my plan :)
Just trying to source one now! |
