95 wrx standard gasket thickness?

Hey guys whats the standard thickness of headgasket for 95 wrx ej20g?

My heads have 0.1mm shaved from standard so I presume I wouldn't need to take this into account when buying the new gaskets as its such a tiny change?

I remember reading somewhere they had 1.6mm headgasket but that seems to be differant from the 97+ models. Can anyone clarify this or know somewhere I could potentially find this info?

From the ACL Website:

Engine: EJ20G DOHC 16v
Capacity: 1994cc
Cylinders: 4
Bore Size: 92mm/3.62in
Stroke: 75mm/2.95in

Cylinder Head Gasket - Copper - BZ230CU10-GTR - 1.0mm
Cylinder Head Gasket - Copper - BZ230CU16-GTR - 1.6mm

So basically you have a choise of a 1.0mm or a 1.6mm.

Ah great, I measuered the old gaskets at 1.6mm aswell so that confirms it. When the heads were done the bloke said that should get away with the standard thickness because they only shave 0.1mm and he said they have about 0.5mm before needing to adjust?
Does this sound right or would I be best to try and source a 1.7mm gasket if possible?

Might be a silly question but worth asking before spending any money...

Ok got the new gaskets ready to go, one last question. When I was pulling the heads off I noticed there was a type of white/silicon glue/sealant on certain parts of the head. What is this sealant and does anyone have a diagram for where it needs to go, or even a factory service manual for the 95 wrx?

doadrift 09-09-2010 10:17 PM

Ok well I rememeber where the sealant was now. There are 2 Half moon ( D ) shape bits that go onto each head to block holes, what is the sealant to use on them?

Also should I be preoiling/prelubing around the bores/pistons before putting the heads on or is filling the motor with oil and turning by hand enough with the ej20s?

threebond on the half moon seals, your subaru dealer should have
and i always put a thin coat on the bores before putting the heads on

Cheers, ended up getting the Permatex Ultra grey for the half moon seals, worked a treat! Also got some assembly lube for the bores, might aswell do everything properly the first time!

Cheers guys, motor is back together and should be ready to drop back in this week.
