Exhausts
I thought I would start up a thread on exhausts since there are so many questions that are asked but no specific thread for them.
I have looked around, but not much is out there on differences in exhausts. I wanted to know, what the differences are between the 3 turbo, cat and dif exhausts in sound, price and performance. For a WRX, what is the best option and what tuning is required. KB |

3" Turbo back is the most efficient, but you will need to think about getting a tune done, otherwise you will be running pretty rich.
IMO, 3" diff back and cat back's are a waste of time.. Might as well do it properly the first time. Altho, I had a 3" cat back on my STI and it sounded pretty good. Economy was out the window tho.. I don't know if Dylan is still making his SS exhausts, but I had one of those as a Cat Back which replaced my RMS built mild steel that I had on first. They are a great exhaust for their money, about $650ish from memory, and lots of guys here have run them in the past. Butler also make good exhaust systems if you can afford to pay for it. |

i'd personally be buying the butler built one off spanner great dump pipes those butler spec ones, might need modification of the dump splitter though if it was previously on a car with a vf turbo (the splitter length is different on a td04)
changing just your diff back is full of fail, will make more noise but the main restriction is the factory dump |

3" Turbo back exhaust.
That is all. Will run slightly rich, so a retune would be your best insurance. But in my opinion for just an exhaust on a street car it isn't needed.
