Power steering flush

Right, so the rubber hose from the return pipe to the reservoir isn't coming off without me forcing the issue and busting something.

Can I drain it from the return or sender pipe at the rack or is that asking for air bubbles and hours of trouble?

i would get something to suck out the fluid, fill it with new fluid, run the car, turn the wheel, and do it all again. that way you will flush the old fluid out and not get any air in.

Yes, it seems that's the sensible option. Cheers mate.

agreed with white rex, also its nowhere near as messy!

surely you could get the hose of without busting it, there always going to be tight if it hasn't been taken off before. get a small scewdriver in and just run it around the hose to break the seal thats how i do it everytime.

Replacing PS fluid is not a simple job (to do it properly).... I would recommend that you get a workshop to do it.

It's not that it's stuck, it's that there isn't room to manoeuvre it. The bend in the line prevents it being pulled away from the reservoir. Difficult to explain, but it's jammed in there. Probably need to remove the reservoir from the pump to get that rubber hose off, which would be more trouble than it's worth.

spose you have done it by now.

ballbag 27-09-2010 12:36 PM

Not yet mate. Had a rocker cover gasket to change this weekend (tip - remove front exhaust pipe). I'll get to it in a couple of weeks.
