Fuel pump hose outlets

Can someone please tell me which of the three hoses coming out of the fuel pump assembly do what?

There is the one at the top (towards the front of the car) with the quick release adaptor and then two pointing towards the passenger side.

The manual is very vague and I've looked on a few subaru sites and done some google searches but can't find a definitive answer.

Thanks.

1. The one with the quick release is the pressured feed hose that goes to the fuel rails.
2. Second one is the return hose that comes back to the tank after the fuel pressure regulator
3. The third hose comes from the other side of the fuel tank and is used to feed fuel from the other side of the tank when the fuel level drops below the height of the hump in the middle of the tank where the nose of the rear diff and tailshaft passes under

Awesome - thanks for that. Clears things up for me no end :)

Now for the fun part of replacing the in-tank pumps. Working over fuel and fuel vapours makes me very nervous :(

Exactly as Ludwig has said

On this topic, anyone happen to have one of the quick release connectors? I assume they have a barb on other side?
Not much fun blowing a pressure hose off at the tank...

One more question: The line going to the fuel rails (with the quick release connector) is vastly different than the rest of the hoses. How would one go about joining another hose to this one? Obviously with the others you can just use a hose joiner and clamp both sides.

Just went to Go Gear and they have the the connectors (female part) for around $45 each but apparently you can't buy anything for the male side. So I'm going to have to replace the whole fuel line from the tank to the fuel rail now which sucks balls but what can ya do?

can't bronze or weld a fitting to the line?

Only thing I can see to do is to cut the end of the outlet off another fuel pump assembly and then put one side in the quick release connector and clamp down the other side with normal rubber hose, which seems like a big waste of a fuel pump assembly. Otherwise replacing the whole fuel line back to the engine with braided line, which is the obvious long term solution but for now would be nice just to be able to use the surge tank assembly seeing as now I'm running on only one small Walbro fuel pump.
