Flat spot before gear change at high revs

I have an automatic GC8 WRX 97 that hits a flat spot at high revs just before gear change, and i'm not sure what could be causing this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

auto boxes are pretty average in subarus. Ive been in a guy from works auto 99 wrx, does a similar thing, the gear changes arent going to be seamless. Especially if the box has a heap of kms on it.

As rossco said, more info required!
