Fake cat?

Anybody on here had a go at making a fake cat? looking to put something together for a new exhaust set up for the track/private road use.

something like this but 2.5 in?

Would need to be easily removable so i could swap it with a real cat for daily duties.

Any ideas on who to talk to or if anybody has done it before?

How much of a gain in power would you get by doing this over a high flow cat?

Looks pretty easy to do. If you got me a standard cat and a 2.5" pipe i could do it for ya.

Any exhaust shop can do this no probs.

Flange couple inches from both ends. Car on stands. 10 mins work. Swap it morning of track event. Done.

That said, I'm assuming your running anti-lag? That's why you need too?

Brent.

No idea on power gains, more just for shits and giggles/because i can. And yes i know it is very illegal but wont be for street use.

Any idea on how to make it easy to remove/replace? (e.g. tkaes less than 10mins in the garage)

No antilag yet, possibility for it in a few months

Flanges. Give me the section of exhaust before the cat and the cat and ill make the fake cat that bolts up to your exhaust. 4 bolts. Or v bands.

V bands for sure. Saves on gaskets.

2.5" ? Gay.

I don't see all the need to do this. If it is for a track, just bolt a flanged straight pipe in (test pipe if you browse american forums). Have you normal cat flanged and bolt in when off the track.

If you think this is so you don't get defected or some crap, you can smell the difference between a straight pipe and a catted pipe. Also, if we get crap like over east, they just put a probe on your exhaust to measure emissions... Looks don't come into it.

Only reason for straight pipes is flames. For a street car, you can get a high flow cat which will perform within a bee's dick of a straight pipe.

Why bother making it look like a cat?

Just get an exhaust shop to make yopu a straight pipe with V-band flanges?

Wanting to make it look like a cat so i can drive it to the track and on the off chance I get pulled over on the way it wont look so dodgey, so in theory less likely to get a yellow. A 2.5 will do for now as i wont have a full 3in system for a few months and really want to try it.

I dont need to do it, I want too. I dont need a quickish car for a daily but I have one

+1

Cops are not going to crawl under your car - they will still give you a yellow if they feel you need one! A fake cat will not fool the pits. Straight pipe with V bands FTW
