faulty temp sensor & bad fuel efficiency
Hey guys, just quickly chasing up whether having a faulty coolant temp sensor (ecu unit, not the gauge) would give the car noticeably worse fuel economy like most others...
I know it is the temp sensor because the thermo fans are both going half speed, even when starting the vehicle cold.. Any help would be cool! Cheers people! Kaya. |
a faulty coolant temp sensor would definitely cause poor fuel economy and would also cause hard starting, i would say there would be a fault code stored if you can get it checked somewhere. If its the Liberty I see as your avatar, they have two senders, one for the gauge and one for the ECU.

thought so! :)
yeah its got a temp sensor fault code and a cruise cont code too! cheers for that mate! i'll have to get off my ass and put one in there i think! might save some dosh in the long run too! not to mention get rid of the gay ass engine light! :) cheers! kaya. |
Yep temp sensor can also make the car feel like it has a missfire but really its running it excessively rich, but its not always the sensor itself... check wiring harness too the sensor before replacing!

check!
i'll do a resistance test to see if the wire is broken somewhere in the line, and yeah all the other tests associated.. cheers for your help guys! kaya. |
