Walbro or Bosch?
 

So I did a bit of searching and haven't found anything conclusive, so I thought I might ask the question. I'm getting the impression that my fuel pump might be on it's way out, and seeing the car is about to be in pieces it seems like the best time to change it out. Other than finding that some people run Bosch pumps while others run Walbro, I wouldn't mind getting a bit of an idea if it's more a preference thing, or that one works more efficiently/better suited etc etc.

Bosch pumps are usually used in higher power setups. Where surge tanks and external pumps are used.

Walbro is cheaper, bolt on and runs nearly as quiet as an OEM pump.

I see I see. I've been running a Walbro up until now, but wasn't really aware of the differences. Might just see if I can source one easily enough here in SA.

Walbro for sure.

Drops in, quiet, cheap, and will support heaps of power.

Cheap genuine ones on fleabay, GSS342 should plug straight in but use your old filter sock as the angle can be wrong on the new ones.

bosch last for years, walbro last about 3 years before the flow starts dropping off or they die, so i've been told

+1 for Walbro intank drop in. Works fine, quiet(ish). Makes much less noise than an 044.

I had to make the same decision and after researching I went with the Walbro for all the reasons listed above.
It's a pretty simple decision if you are not chasing huge power numbers (imo).

Funnily enough it would be just over three years to the day that my current Walbro has decided to call it a day. :eek:

Have decided to go with this option and will be picking it up tomorrow. Cheers for the info guys.
