rocker covers

Yes, i know theres a few threads around about these but it isn't in the information...

I was actually just wondering if you could do the rocker covers on both sides of a GC8 WRX without undo'ing any engine mounts and without tilting engine itself?..

I have a mate that will be going the rest of it for me because i am stumped and have no clue, but i was just wondering if it was possible, and if it isnt can you wilt the engine with the gearbox still attached?

Do what to the rocker covers?

TILLEE 17-12-2010 01:51 PM

Change them, what else would i do?

JDM_STYLE 17-12-2010 01:57 PM

Change rocker covers or change rocker gaskets.

^^^ I'm assuming those two would require the same work to be done

Obviously but the question was asked what he needs doing with the rocker covers.

Removing old covers for new ones or changing out the gaskets for new ones.

Hes changing gaskets. You dont have to undo anything. Just 6 valve cover bolts either side, new gaskets for around the edge of the cover, 2 gaskets either side for the spark plug holes and some gasket goo to make sure it seals nicely. Put it together and leave it for a day.

He should of said that at the start then people could have given him an exact answer sooner.

Oh and whilst your online Callum/Tiddy I still haven't received your $270 for the AOS or even a courtesy PM since your last PM telling me you'd pay that night which was a few weeks ago!!!

Remove them to de-sludge them?
Remove the bolts to change the sealing washers?
Remove the cover to recover a broken spark plug?
remove the cover to find the shim your engine spat?

Haha, the answer in my head was not nearly as polite.
