So a little update:

I destroyed the clutch on Friday evening (solo hills run) FML......

It's Not holding anything above 3 psi anymore.....pretty sure it's thrown the friction material off one side of the clutch disk.... lol!

So using my contacts at work I've ordered one of these little puppies:

(image for reference only- my kit is by Clutch Industries)

The clutch plate is dual material, Organic on the diaphragm side - ceramic on the flywheel side. The idea behind the dual material is to enhance torque capacity (ceramic side) whilst protecting the driveline (cushioned between both friction faces) & having a progressive bite (organic side).

Anyone wanting to know more should look here:Friction Disks

Watch the video 3rd down on the left.

The kit is spec'd to handle 45% more torque than their full organic RPM kit.

The RRp on the 5 speed kit (p/n: Rpm1911N-OC) is $1400.

Fitting next week by Evo R, along with a refill of shockproof & new output seals.

And that <<<<Finally!!>>>> should be the end of my clutch woes!

^ Sweet! As you said, should have done it ages ago.
I hope it works as well in practice as it does on paper.

Neg unfortunately, I called in a favor, I won't post what I paid for the kit - but let's just say all up including fitting will be around $1200.

Clutch is in!

Initial thoughts?

No harder to drive than a full organic clutch
The initial 'bite' is very progressive.
There is no clutch shudder at all
There's no overrun noise, actually there's no noise from it at all.

One issue I did have initially was the clutch friction point being too low (like 15mm off the floor), the old clutch was like this also, I knew it wasn't air in the system now (as I thought it was) - it was bled today......HMM how to fix?

The fix was a simple adjustment of the clutch pedal push rod:

You can see the clutch pedal upper stop in this picture as well as the clutch adjustment rod. This component goes through a boot in the firewall and connects to the clutch master cylinder. The rod can be turned left or right to alter the point of clutch engagement above the floor, longer = higher friction point - Shorter = lower friction point.

The friction point is now 1/3 the way up from the floor...Woohoo!

But why was this adjustment required?..........Lightened flywheel!

The lightened flywheel is thinner than the stock one - effectively moving the clutch fork pivot point & the pressure plate further apart, which in turn requires slightly more 'stroke' at the master cylinder to return the pedal to a 'normal' feel.
