Your car a MY05 (judging but the red calipers it is) then it has inverted struts, they seem to develop knocking issues on most MY05+ WRX & MY02+STi's. If your car is out warranty you might as well start looking into getting coilovers, if you just replace the strut with another OEM strut it will just develop the problem again.

Cheers for that! Not sure about the warranty... Dont think its under any warranty, hmm. So coilovers are the way to go, might have to start looking at prices...

Does the brand of Coilovers matter? Like there are some on ebay. Are they any good, like for just street driving, will i have any issues?

Add to that no issues have been reported once fitted 'that I've seen', reliability is really worth paying more for personally.

When purchasing e-bay spec items its well worth your time to research them as what may seem cheap on the outside can cost you later on 'and imo suspention parts is not an area to scrimp on'.

Also check NASiOC forums as due to their much larger user base you've got a better chance of finding reviews.

The only issues we've had with HSD's have been distributor error (i.e. incorrect brackets fitted), and a couple of sets with loud pillow balls.. (although nothing that is out of spec for a coilover i.e. most pillow balls will make noise in some shape or form, either way we replace them at the customers request).

Apart from that, mechanically, they are spot on!

PM me if you're interested.

They cost more than those eBay ones, but I can't imagine how bad those eBay ones would be.. I'd hazard a guess and say stiff, noisy and difficult to source parts for if required.
