CAI installation
heyy i bought a proccess west CAI and i was wondering if installing it is pretty striaght foward? any advice u can give me will be great :D
|
ive done it. next time i would have taken the front bumper off, it would have been alot easier that way.
|
bit off the original topic but thought i'd ask. how much difference would i see in buying one of these. i currently just have a k&n panel filter in the stock airbox, but i'm considering getting one as i already have a pw tmic. are they worth the $365?
|
seriously if you *really* want a CAI you can get an ebay spec from USA for $80 delivered.
Ditch their pod and replace with a better quality one. Branded CAI are waaay overpriced for what? a piece of pipe |

I sometimes wonder whether you should be on the tools dude. It's literally a bolt and a couple of hose clamps... Lol. Brent. :) |
Pretty straight forward, and yes, removing front bumper makes process easier.
As for gains, I noticed a slightly better top end, but seemed to sacrifice a bit of response. Wank factor is good though, you can really hear the turbo spool. Make sure you only apply very minimal oil to the pod, as it stuffs up your afm. |
Yeah it is pretty easy
You have to remove the original airbox. Some of which is in the wheel arch so I had to remove the wheel arch lining to get it out.
Jack the car up renmove, wheel to get to wheel arch lining, remove lining then undo all the bolts holding original airbox in place A few bolts and claps and its done. PW fits really well and is a quality product. Sounds really loud though, so you need to get use to that swoosh sound. Helps air flow definitely but how much power gain without tune is unknown. Cheers Tim |

And until you can remove the AFM, performance gains are less than with a stock airbox and a good panel filter. It's just noise.
Also, enjoy puddles now there is a snorkel to suck water up with. |
