how much boost can stock wrx bov handle?

ok guys just wondering how much boost a stock bov can take? i have just had a hks ssq bov fitted to the car and i dont like how loud it is so am thinking about putting stock back on

i will be running around 15-16psi and just wanted to know if stock bov will be ok for this?

also is the spring in factory bov supose to be quite soft?

thanks for the help

MattuZ 07-04-2011 06:45 PM

I would have thought the stock BOV on a WRX is the same on a STI.

15psi is 1bar so it should handle that with no problems at all.

2008 and onwards WRX run @ 14.5psi boost anyway so Im sure a stock WRX BOV can handle 20psi as well.

unlimited boost, if modified correctly.

I reckon the stock bov could support up to 30psi?? But by the point you'd be running an FMIC due to power output etc and then be looking at something aftermarket by default anwyays.

This is for GD BOVs, not sure bout GC's.
