More info?
Did just the fronts? Or rear too? |
i did all 4 the rears were smoking after a test drive
|
dog bones fitted to rear ?
did you have a little free play on the peddle ? |
yep dog bones on the rear
yeah have some free play in it |
Hand brake shoes over adjusted?
|
i dont think that is it cause the rear discs have a gold ring where the pads have been engaged and got really hot

Check the offset of the caliper in relation to the rotor. Some cheap dogbones dont center the caliper directly over the rotor properly. So when you tighten the bolts for the caliper mounts the caliper is pushing the pad against the rotor on one side only even with no pressure applied.

i will check this and let you know

THIS. You sometimes need to run thin washers or shims between the dogbone and the mounting surface on the hub, to get the caliper to centre correctly.. and the cheaper dogbones can sometimes be out of whack. When I installed my Prodrive brakes, I torqued the dogbones to spec and then used spark plug feeler gauges to make sure the caliper to rotor spacing was identical on each side. I didn't have to use any of the provided shim washers in the kit, as the caliper to rotor spacing was within .0001 of an inch between sides. Prodrive kwality :D |
