Where to get RED Sti Inlet manifold Paint?

Hi all

Does anyone know where to buy inlet manifold paint. Trying to get the original wrinkle finish in red. Someone out there must have already done this one.:book1:

Thanks
Brad

DIY

Chemical stripper, metal wire brush, cheap paint brush for applying stripper, 1 can VHT wrinkle paint code SP204. Spray away.

Turns out pretty neat at the end of it.

Hope that helps

Should look like this

How long did it take to remove the manifold? 45min? Will be needing to do this soon..

HaiiSon 01-06-2011 06:15 PM

Also are depressurising the lines needed or just simply pull off?

SyncSubaru 01-06-2011 06:43 PM

I also wish to do this to mine.

I got a can sitting here that I never used, $10?

Heat the manifold up internally with a hair dryer to tighten the wrinkles up a lot.
I had a hair dryer running for 45 mins through the throttle body hole & had the manifold stood off the ground on some dowels to let the hot air flow all the way through the manifold.

End result:

Any have a good diy on the removal of the manifold? When i do this i plan to buy the pheolonic spacers and instal them at the same time. Saw some on ebay that looked ok.

Has anyone bought the VHT wrinkle red lately? Ive read on the net that the formula has changed and it is now too orange to match the original manifolds. I was thinking it may be an american thing so I was hoping someone local could help out.

I bought some from auto one in Wanneroo a few weeks back. I'm happy with the color. Not sure if it may have been old stock etc.

scoobygez 07-02-2012 04:20 PM

I too did mine a few backs and mine is near enough the same as the factory colour...

Got it from auto one for $17 bucks a tin used 1 and a half tins of it, although I did my intercooler pipes also :)

To stop the paint from coming off again you need to etch prime the manifold first,
