Ok, to put this quickly and simply: nobody here's compared all of the above tyres themselves, so it's impossible to get an accurate view of which tyre is truly best.

That's an obvious statement and I know everyone here knows that, but it needs to be said.

So what do do?

Ask someone with a wealth of experience who has little or no vested interest in pushing a certain brand.
An example is John @ WW. No, he's not an so much an 'end user' as someone like Doug@STechnic who does more events than 99% of people here, but he does get out there himself to do events and he (most importantly) GETS FEEDBACK FROM AMATEURS AND PROS ALIKE on the handling characteristics and wear rates of each particular tyre.
Over the years John (or someone in his position) will have received a huge amount of feedback on tyre performance from hundreds of people. He will have also received feedback on comparisons of two kinds of tyres (eg someone taking out the Bridgstones one weekend on the track and then switching to Dunlops the next weekend - a direct comparison).
When you add up all this feedback, he will have a largely rounded view of where each tyre stands in the real-world performance stakes. Combined with their personal experience, you can see that someone in John's position is a far better person to be asking "which tyre should I get for xxx situation?" than us Joe Publics who can't truly make a fair call.

I know that you know I'm not talking about asking your local Tyrepower cowboy that sort of info.

Call me TJ but that's my opinion and if you don't like it... well, you can do something TJ might tell you to do.

Like suck a particular appendage.

Your own particular appendage.

PS: I will be putting these questions to people such as John over the coming weeks, so I'll keep you in the loop of you want!

PPS: Long Longs.

Still all street tyres, so track exposure will be limited to sprint laps before going off. Im a big fan of the advans and would suggest the 08's anyway. The 11's are nice though and I dare say just as good if not better on the track with a nice fat shoulder tread. In reality you wouldn't find the true difference if your seat time is limited, so either will do, just get the better value for money.

Did you just cut and paste this from the brochure?

No? Who are you? This is what John at Wheels World suggested and I've found it to be very true.
