Missed your qn.

Kelford was commissioned for high flowing the head. The heads were meant to have oversized valves. They were also to match them to the Tomei cams supplied.

Mao

You don't need to write 'L' and 'R' in texta on Subaru heads, they are vastly different to each other.

It's not customary in Australia to give any warranty on modified or race engine components, is it in Indonesia?

Btw that was written by Kelford. Spare me the technical stuff and can come on level grounds with me as that's not the point with this thread.

The selling price of Subaru STis are about 2x the price in Indonesia compared to Australia. Similarly an Sti will cost between 140k to 150k aud new in Singapore (depending on exchange rates). So people who can afford them do not kid around with their cars there, as they are very expensive.

Regardless whether it is Indonesia or even Singapore or any other place in the world ---- don't have to judge where the vehicle or head is, but rather on ethical grounds.

Sorry for not being detailed in the first place but hey all I did was just post some heads on for ppl to be wary of the job to expect (I am not the one sufferring from all this except for some poor guy who got ripped off):

1) The original heads were sent to Kelford for the job to be done. Total cost was at NZ$6000 including shipping.

2) First set of heads did not make it back as Kelford had over drilled the original heads.

3) They then proceeded to send another set of heads back from NZ to Jakarta.

4) Heads arrived and were installed immediately.

5) After the installation, compression between left and right heads were different.

6) One side read 12bar and the other side 10bar.

7) Heads were removed in a matter of days and these pics were taken.

If this happened to any of us here, do you expect any warranty??

Regards,
Mao

for reference, cosworth offer effectively no warranty once sticky tape is opened on the packaging.

Was a fire extinguisher involved at any process in the removal of these heads?

Just out of curiosity, which part of the head do you think is burnt?

I have to agree with the other guys here, the heads are very dirty, they look like they've been on a car for months.
Not reconned, fitted and removed again straight away.
I'm not talking about the combustion chambers, I'm talking about the overall condition of the heads

Mao all I'm saying they look like a fire extinguisher was sprayed over them or they have been left in a bakery, the heads that came off my 20k old motor looked surgically clean compared to these "new" heads.

Thanks for the input.

Well tropical weather I suppose. Humidity and baraometric conditions are quite sever in Aisa, especially when you are near the equator.

We were not so much concerned over the overall appearance of the head, but more to do with the leakage through the stem seals, even the shims sizing were wrong.

Mao

Also guys,

I might be under the wrong impression on how the heads were received. But I do know that the customer paid for high flow reconditioned heads.

So I have asked the owner who is also a Pwrx member to elaborate when he comes online.

Regards,
Mao
