Gc8 wheel bearings

Hi peoples. Has anyone done wheel bearings on a gc8?

I have replaced bearings and seals and there is a lot of slop/play in the wheel..

Is there a special punch or press that needs to be used?

Cheers matt

these are unitized bearings, and yes a largish press is required for the job, some take up to 4tonne of pressure, And a know how of how to do it is also required =P

yeah didnt open for me... but yeah you need a press to do the job! sometimes they are seized on the hub quite well so we need to heat them up with the oxy! i would personally be doing them at a workshop!

sometimes its just easier to swap hub assemblies instead!

may have a bearing that could be on its way out, so "may" not be the most efficient solution

just swap the hub and make sure the driveshaft nut is done up tight :)

The bearings in a gc8 are rubbish and if you do a bit of track work they need to be replaced half regularly. It is not a big job if you take the hubs into someone like MMS.
