US Dump Pipes VS Australian

Hi guys, I'm after some of your excellent advice ;)

I am looking at getting one of these

Invidia USA.

But I have seen mention of the fact that the weird left hand drive cars have a different dump pipe to us normal right hand drive cars, and if I was to get one of these DP it would need modification to fit.

Do any of you know what is involved in making one fit, or if its a no go ????

Cheers
Nathan

you probably have the steering knuckle hitting the dump pipe never bothered getting a exhaust from the state when the local ones are bloody good and fit right hand drives with no problems

The flanges and brackets will line up, but as mentioned above, 90% of the time the steering knuckle contacts the downpipe when the wheel is turned due to obvious lhd versus rhd equals no steering rack clear on US cars. Heat and a hammer will sort it out, but why not get one locally that is made for rhd cars? Much easier

I am chasing just a Dump Pipe, not a whole exhaust, but with a divorced wastegate with splitter, just like the Invidia one.

Can anyone recommend a locally made one or an online store that wont cost the earth ???

Cheers
Nathan

contact Troy from Pro-speed Racing..think he can help you with the dump.
Not sure how his getting them to fit with the problem mentioned above but hey, if it works, that's all that matters right. (dont think he specifically mentions it in the thread below unless i missed it)
Hey mate, out of curiosity what was the landed price?
I havent got that far, but, I can get one for US$275 plus postage from my American address, so maybe $50 with some other stuff ??? so probably just over $300 aus ???
But that's all for naught if its a huge pain to make fit :( :( :(

mARC 06-08-2011 10:06 PM

Give Norm Butler a call.

Might be perceived as being exy but you get what you pay for :)

Andy! 07-08-2011 05:49 PM

I have a Cobb dump on mine fit perfectly.

CunnazZ 07-08-2011 07:54 PM

Well it would be for a MY02 GT Forester, so who knows lol ????

Strubaru 07-08-2011 08:05 PM

the steering knuckle hitting the dump pipe problem is even worse on foresters, even a system that will clear the knuckle on a gc8 of gda/b may hit the knuckle on a foz, simple fix with a blowtorch & hammer though

stay away from divorced w/g dumps, no way in hell fitting in a foz without going rotated mount

burkes is probably your safest bet for direct bolt on as this was on his foz with no issues ;)

XT43 07-08-2011 11:22 PM

Yes, buy mine :)

CunnazZ 08-08-2011 07:37 AM

nothing a metal rod down it won't fix, plus if mr plod has a look it looks like its got a cat so no yellow for you.

Not that having a cat is going to make much difference, if any..
