Limp mode?

1 Attachment(s)
Hey folks,

After getting a Butler Built TBE fitted last Thursday, my car decided to go in to what I think is limp mode on Saturday evening. The engine and traction control lights are on solid, and the cruise control is flashing but the car seems to be running ok. I've spoken to my mate jester and he thinks the same but he hasn't worked on this model before.

I've spent countless hours searching forums and the net looking for a workshop manual for my car but had no luck. Has anyone got one for a MY09 WRX, or experienced this issue after fitting a TBE?

Cheers,

rjb

Has it been tuned?

How many k's have you done on it 'with the new exhaust', without a tune 'if applicable'.

I did about 200kms before the warning lights came on. It hasn't been tuned yet. I'm looking at getting a Verso tune done at ASG in the near future.

2.5L are renound for throwing a CEL if it has a TBE and no Tune.

Unlucky. I drove my car for only 3 days after a Butler exhaust before dropping it off to ASG. No problems encountered (MY08). I did less than 100km and tried to keep the revs under 4000-4500.

Have you been driving it normally or extending it into higher rpm?

Overboost or running too lean.

Get the CEL code read by a workshop. Find out the issue.

All fixed by having the car tuned to suit the exhaust.

Take it in to be tuned ASAP.

Whoever you choose to tune it. They will be able to check ECU error codes, clear them and tune the ECU to suit the new exhaust so you dont get the same problem again.

I was just reading your car thread actually. Interesting to see the results of your tune. I gave it a bit of a drive the day it was fitted to hear the range of the exhaust, but it's been driven normally after that.

Isn't this to do with the o2 sensor in front of the cat?

Cheers for the prompt feedback folks. Still keen to get my mitts on the workshop manual if anyone has one.
