Where/who's best to see for a unichip? and what sort of price do they go for?

Might be a dumb question, but I've never asked anyone before - do you have to still keep the AFM if running a unichip? or can u take it off? If you have to keep it... what filters have ppl here run (with success) without burning the afm out??

Yep, AFM is still required with a unichip, because its an interceptor rather than a full replacement ECU

Its ok to run oiled filters. It comes down to not having it over oiled.

If its a major concern, go the Apexi pod filters. But with unoiled filters, you run the risk of water getting through your filter and into your engine. One way around this is to put a box around your pod filter. So, when you take your vents off, and it rains, water wont get to your pod filter.

Before you consider unichip, have a look at the Greddy Emanage. It still uses the AFM. Cost slightly more.

Whats the advantage of the "e-manage"? So after reading that, I'm better off just keeping the standard airbox!? Air filter change would make fuck all difference anyway, right?

E-manage I believe has more tuning options than the unichip
This is based on what I've read on the net and like everything on the net, should be verified by speaking to the ppl who will be tuning the car.

I'm pretty sure Speedworks and Xspeed (that I'm aware of) tune the emanage. Like all types of engine management tool, its as good as what the tuner can do.

With the filter, no idea what's good or bad. Most guys stick with the standard box with a drop in filter and still went well with it while others like the pods.

I have a HKS Super power flow pod filter, The induction noise sounds great, you can really hear the turbo spool. You can hear the bov too. Its the oiled type but iv never had any problems with the airflow meter. car revs better at low rpm since changing from the oem air box. I wouldnt say the car is noticably faster though, revs just pick up better from idle.

you can get the filter sponges in funky colours too if your a boy racer like me.

I looked at getting one of these HKS units, they dont have to be oiled do they? like, u can run em dry too?? Might be best just sticking with the oem air box i spose! Although I do like the idea of more induction noise
