Default New STi Suggestions

Ok so I'm stuck up here on site until next week when I can go home and start playing with my beloved STi. Until then the wife is driving it around Perth below 4000rpm for the first 1600kms (at least I hope she is anyway!).

I've tried searching on here, but nothing seems to come up with my specific query, so here goes with my questions for the greater collective knowledge of P-WRX (please point me to any threads I've been unable to search for if they exist, and please excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject - this is my first ever Subaru, let alone STi):

Mods - The general consensus seems to be handling first. Does the MY11 STi need anything in this department? During the short drive I did in it from the dealer to home, everything felt very good. I presume I've already got sway bars, but I guess going thicker is better? What else should I do?

Stereo - It appears the premium Shat Nav version that came in my car (Spec R) does not link to the iPhone for anything other than making calls. Does the iPhone to Composite lead (RCA) sort this out? Will I still be able to run apps like Trapster and have it come over the stero while playing music from the iPhone? Does it show the iPhone screen up on the Shat Nav display? I gather I'll also need to ground the handbrake wire to allow certain features while moving

Body - I'm looking at getting the Venture Sheild stuff put on by Perth Graphics Centre. Anyone done this already? Any comments?

Anything Else? After spending a fair bit on mods for my bike, the wife is keeping a very keen eye on me with regard to the STi, so suggestions along the lines of things she won't notice and things that won't be so obvious on the credit card would be appreciated! But if there are certain 'Must Do' mods, then please fire away.

PGC are extremely good and professional, great choice.

If the sti handles and goes to a level you are happy with, why change it? changing for the sake of changing isnt always a winner.

Whiteline or Cusco HD Rear SB and End Links would be the first mod I did.

Eliminating body roll with a more progressive lowering spring like swift or coilovers would be next along with Whiteline Anti-lift Kit and Roll Centre Kit.

Good wheel alignment to finish it off.

Yeah I see what you're saying, but I always like to improve things. Did it with the bike too and never regretted it. Perhaps it's the engineer in me?

Hahaha maybe a 2nd credit card could be handy, for sneaky mods!

With the deck, it says something about the 2011 Nav Deck that has a blocking feature? stops the music from streaming over bluetooth. People on nasioc are saying u need to ground the handbrake wire from the deck. This will allow full use of the nav unit and music from your iphone while driving.

I recommend going to North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club

Check there forums, there is a massive amount of info there and HEAPS of pics and mods

You keen for more Rumble?

A bloke comes down racing with his 05 sti and is generally a second or 2 quicker than me and another guy. He has stock sway bars, stock suspention. To me i dont think they need to be upgraded to be "better".

The stock deck should have an option for an iPod cable. Then you can plug in and listen to the musics. You can't get stuff that is on your phone to display on the car display though. I don't think any system does that.

I personally wouldn't touch the suspension until you know you are lacking in an area. A pro wheel alignment will get the car handling like a boss.
