Tips on removing a stubborn exhaust baffle?

G'day.

Have an exhaust with an allegedly removable baffle. One small bolt to remove from the tip and the baffle should pull out.

This poor thing's seemingly being held in by rust. Obviously I need to hit it with shitloads of Inox or similar but apart from that I need to get hold of the thing so I can pull at it with some force.

Any winning techniques out there?

Any chance of using a pair or two of vice grips and turning it to break the rust?

best way i have found is to grab an old masonry chisel that has copped a beating so the end is flattened a bit like this

then grab some vise grips and clamp onto the sharp end

shove it into the exhaust so the lip on the end of the chisel 'grabs' the inside of pipe & then pull it out like a hammer motion, keep doing it & it will eventually come out, best part is this doesn't physically ruin the appearance of your silencer from the outside ;)

Took me at least an hour with pliers a hammer and some mullgrips

Was the baffle trashed once it came out?

Maybe a set of reverse plier thingos is the go, like an external-circlip set of pliers....

I gather you lads had the exhaust off the car?
Was the baffle trashed once it came out? not at all

I gather you lads had the exhaust off the car? nope, did it on the car, took about 5 minutes
Righto, that's encouraging. Grateful for the moral support!
